Christmas Spirit
The Holiday season is here with us again. If you ask a few people what they think the spirit of Christmas is, you will most definitely come up with a myriad of answers. To the liquor industry, its selling billions of liters of liquor; to the malls its selling billions worth of toys and to individuals its giving and receiving presents while for others it is a time for forgiving and looking forward to a brighter and better future. All in all, for most people Christmas is a period for re-uniting with your family, friends and loved ones and to a remaining few Christmas is a period for celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ - the Lord and Savior.
Christmas is a period of cheer, on the streets, peoples faces are radiant, brilliant and lit up with happiness of the holiday season. They all have a reason to smile and be happy; they they are meeting their families for the first time after months or even years, some receiving presents and others have been forgiven their past mistakes.
There is another group of people who this period is a manifestation of hell on earth, a mother who cannot buy his son or daughter a toy from the store, a parent who cannot feed his family, cloth them or even provide a roof over their heads. As others go on eating and at time in excess and buying to a point of emptying the shelves on supermarkets this is the period when others come into the painful realization of what they are missing.
As we all go into Christmas, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, think of what Jesus would do- as he said "if one is thirsty give him water and feed the hungry" so I urge all of you out their to remember your destitute brothers and sisters out there, give them a reason to smile and to believe that Jesus actually live and once walked on earth. He spread a message of love and forgiveness and this is the greatest time to do it, the time to forgive your enemies. Whatever your reason is for merry making and jubilation is remember someones tribulation. Life is like the weather, one moment you are basking in the sun and the next you are being thrown away by a turbulent storm, when that storm comes there will be someone to help you through it, so help someone today have a merry Christmas.
